Precipitation variations over the Tibetan Plateau
The Tibetan Plateau (TP) and surrounding regions are known as large reservoirs of fresh water providing essential water resources to the surrounding regions. However, how patterns of atmospheric precipitation, the most important supply to these reservoirs, over the TP has changed in space and time, and the key mechanisms behind these changes remain to be fully understood. The aim is to enhance our understanding of the precipitation patterns and associated atmospheric processes over the TP at a regional level. Moreover, the positive evaluation demonstrates the potential of high-resolution atmospheric modeling in simulating precipitation and related atmospheric processes, thereby providing valuable insights into what controls the precipitation changes over the TP in the past and potentially in the future.
